The 6th grade class has been learning about the order of operations while writing and evaluating numerical expressions.
Today their skills are put to the test as they "operate" on some celebrities. Their surgical teams must collaborate while operating on their patients to know the correct tools needed during surgery.
Gobble gobble! 🦃
The 6th grade class collaborated with the Kindergarten class to help disguise turkeys to save them from being eaten on Thanksgiving!
The teamwork, laughter, and creativity were inspiring to see as they worked together!
What a great group of disguises!

The Hoven School Entrance (by Kim's office) has been selected as a designated location for children from the Hoven area (6th grade and younger) to drop off their letters to Santa! Children are welcome and encouraged to write letters at home and drop them off in Santa's mailbox at school. We've heard on good authority that Santa has some amazing elves helping him this year, so it sounds like every child who writes a letter to Santa is very likely to get a letter back!
The Hoven Student Council members are holding a Safe Harbor Drive for Safe Harbor in Aberdeen. Donations can be dropped off at school during normal school hours. All donations are much appreciated for this great cause!

The Veteran's Day Videos are up on our school website, you will see them on the right hand side of the page.
You will be able to download them if you choose too. Note that the Veterans Day Video one is a large video and will take a little time to download.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this year’s Veteran’s Day program. It was a truly memorable event, honoring all those who have bravely served and those who continue to defend our great nation.
❤️🤍💙
This morning, inspiring news arrived from the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization. Thanks to the Field of Flags fundraiser, 12,000 flags are flying across the United States today in honor of our nation’s veterans, totaling $125,000 raised across the country. While our school and community may be a small part of this effort, together we helped make a meaningful impact. Even the smallest acts of service, when combined, can create something remarkable.
❤️🤍💙
Thank you again to everyone who helped make our own “Field of Flags” possible. A special thanks to Kim Hoerner for generously donating her time, talents, and materials to design and construct the display base for our flags.
Reminder our Veterans Day program is tomorrow at 9:00 am in the school gymnasium! Please have your students wear Red, white or blue tomorrow to honor our veterans.
Having a “Paws-itive” Impact!
Grades preschool through 6th grade were able to attend a presentation by Katie Nold today. Katie works with Labs for Liberty. "Labs for Liberty has a two-fold purpose. First, it raises and trains Labradors to be given as service dogs to wounded warriors and second, it helps those veterans heal by providing a place for retreats."
Katie even had 2 very special assistants, Odin and Gunnar. She spoke about the dogs she’s trained, demonstrated a few things that they are trained to do for their owners, and shared personal stories of pairing up the dogs with their owners.
Thank you Katie for coming to our school and teaching us about the work you do and the of importance of relationships between humans and dogs.
This is a link you can go to for more information about Labs for Liberty.
